The 8 Categories of Zakat
Surah At-Tawbah (9:60) strictly limits the distribution of Zakat to eight specific categories of people:
Al-Fuqara
The severely poor
Al-Masakin
The needy/struggling
Al-Amilina Alayha
Zakat administrators
Al-Mu'allafatu Qulubuhum
To reconcile hearts
Fir-Riqab
To free captives/slaves
